FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE: This position under limited supervision performs leadership in the areas of employee relations and performance management. Position reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees and supports the implementation of the employment observation and evaluation processes of all employee groups in alignment with school board policy and NC General Statute.
- Oversees the set up and maintenance of NCEES and other online evaluation systems.
- Coordinate or conduct investigations of incidents that occur on WS/FCS Schools’ property that may be in violation of school board policy and/or criminal law in consultation with Chief HR Officer and WSFCS Legal Department.
- Investigate, analyze, and make decisions regarding personnel problems and/or issues.
- Collects information regarding incidents and prepares accurate written reports.
- Analyzes and interprets criminal record check results and communicates with Directors, Principals and other staff regarding the findings.
- Serves as the hearing officer or mediator in the employee grievance process when assigned by the Chief HR Officer.
- Conducts and supervises exit interviews and provides data to the Chief HR Officer.
- Oversee and support the employee support team.
- Supervises the employee investigator and employee support team.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Understanding and knowledge of North Carolina Public School Law, Board of Education Policy, evaluation and allotment manuals.
- Considerable knowledge of school system observation, investigation, and evaluation processes.
- Considerable knowledge of supervision, organization, conflict management and administration.
- Ability to develop or interpret personnel policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective workplace culture.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and 2 years of supervising experience or 6 years of progressive human resource work experience.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
School administrator, Human Resource Management certification preferred but not required.
Pay Grade Director 2 - $6,335.33 Monthly Salary - Full Time Position - 12 Months
