FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE
The Math Coach is responsible for providing consultative and instructional support to teachers to accelerate exemplary instructional practices for increased student learning and achievement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Shares exemplary practices; provides models and examples.
• Conducts demonstration lessons in content areas.
• Models effective lesson planning, implementation, and reflective teaching.
• Collaboratively plans lessons and units with teachers; facilitates sharing.
• Plans and co-teaches lessons and units with teachers; facilitates sharing.
• Observes teachers and provides feedback.
• Conferences with individuals, grade levels and teams about curriculum and instructional initiatives.
• Provides training for, and monitors the use of, instructional materials such as pacing guides, locally developed curriculum guides, manipulatives, etc.
• Plans, facilitates, and monitors professional development activities (large and small group).
• Consults with teachers for the purpose of analyzing, interpreting, and utilizing test data for curriculum planning and re-teaching.
• Facilitates collaborations, sharing of ideas, and celebration of successes.
• Provides academic resources.
• Collaborates with school administrators regularly for reflection and planning.
• Forms relationships with teachers to create safe spaces for growth and realistic reflection.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated knowledge of North Carolina standards and pedagogy in specific content area.
- Deep knowledge and experience in research/evidence based instructional practice, assessment driven instruction
- Deep knowledge and experience in effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for building an environment with a common instructional focus, promoting initiatives and conveying expectations.
- Knowledge of effective teaching practices and classroom management.
- Knowledge of appropriate instructional strategies in specific content area.
- Knowledge of problem techniques and ability to guide teacher in implementing solutions.
- Familiarity with district resources, curriculum, and initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated strength in organization and efficiency in meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a collaborative member of a team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or another related field
• Desirable: Master’s Degree or above in Education or another related field
Mentor certification
• Minimum: Five years of successful teaching experience
• Desirable: Successful 6-12 years designated content area experience
Experience with digital teaching and learning integration
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
Current North Carolina teaching license required. Valid driver’s license is required.
Certified Teacher Pay Scale - Part Time 50%
